The artist is a
receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place: from the sky, from
the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider's web.

About the artist...
A native of Mexico, born Sandra Grossman Villa, Sandi is a product of her art, as her art is product of her. The result: a body of work of stunning virtuosity and remarkable range.
Inspired as it is inspirational, Sandi's silk art moves the viewer, carrying him to far away exotic locales with the suggestion of distant, albeit universal dreams. Its effect is delightfully palpable and immediate. Its emotional diversity running the gamut; connoting a sense of longing and of belonging with equal facility and conviction.
Sandi's tropically-themed art reflects an escapist milieu, yet her range of themes and subjects encompass other world views and provocative locales including the Caribbean, gritty urban scenes, and adroitly executed figurative studies. Likewise, Sandi captures the lighter side of life, providing an interesting contrast to a life she has lived with both passion and conviction. Further, there is a pronounced tenderness evidenced in much of her artwork that embraces our inter-connectedness in some pieces and our unbearable isolation in others.
In the artist's own words:
"My interests are varied and my inspirations stem from the world around me and the artists that have come before. With drawing and color, I hope to isolate a moment in time and allow the viewer to study these slices of life for detail and subtle implications that go far beyond the moment."
It is through art, and through art only, that we can realize our perfection; through art and art only that we can shield ourselves from the sordid perils of actual existence.

While creating is my passion, I believe it is equally as important to give back, pay it forward, or do good for others in our lifetime. This being said, for every quilt purchased through my ETSY shop (www.silkartdesignstudio) or this website, I will make and donate a quilt for a needy child, whether terminally, traumatized or in foster care through Project Linus or Quilts for Kids. A photo of the quilt being donated will be sent to the person who purchases a quilt from me and the donation will be made in both our names.
I OFFER CLASSES FOR SENIORS TO CHILDREN, INDIVIDUAL OR GROUP, TEAM BUILDING AND PARTIES. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR FURTHER INFORMATION.
